November 2009

Please refer to the links on the left for detailed instructions as to how to apply for your first passport, renew your passport or have pages added to your passport.

Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the U.S. Embassy Panama website and the U.S. Department of State travel website where current Travel Warnings and Travel Alerts can be found. The U.S. Embassy also encourages U.S. citizens to review "A Safe Trip Abroad" which includes valuable security information for those both living and traveling abroad. In addition to information on the Internet, travelers may obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling Overseas Citizen Services at 1-888-407-4747 (toll-free in the U.S. and Canada) between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays.  Those calling from overseas may obtain information or assistance by calling  at 1-202-501-4444 during the stated hours.

Citizens living and residing in Panama are advised to register their presence in the country through the U.S. Department of State's automated online registration system. U.S. citizens may also contact the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy via e-mail at Panama-ACS@state.gov or by calling 207-7000 or 207-7030.
