More People to People Programs

The Foreign Commercial Services Section, in collaboration with the People to People program, donated 5 computers to an internet center in the remote area of Soloy.  The community has no electricity, and the center is powered through solar energy.  The computers were delivered by a group of 30 ROTC university students visiting Panama. During their time in Soloy they performed a community service project at a nearby school, and were hosted by members of FUNDESCU (Fundación Para el Desarrollo y la Cultura) for a welcome lunch.

The great work from the USNS Comfort continues to benefit Panama, this time through their donation of 26 boxes of children’s classics, textbooks, and fiction and non-fiction reading material to the American Corner.  This donation will be great resource to local Panamanians who choose to visit the American Corner to learn more about the United States of American and pursue learning of the English language.  If anyone in the embassy community has an interest in donating time to enhance programming at the American Corner, please contact Emily Boland x7390 for additional information.
