Coast Guard Seamen Refurbish Classrooms

December 31, 2005

The students attending Escuela Primaria Fuente de Amor in Arraijan will enjoy refurbished classrooms thanks to members of the USCGC Boutwell. On Saturday, December 31, 2005, Cmdr. Mori Andrews and a crew of approximately 15 US Coast Guard seamen and 15 Panamanian SMN members joined efforts to refurbish and brighten the dark classrooms. The school serves approximately 450 students in grades K-6

Members of the Association of Veterans Spouses and Friend Volunteers prepared lunch for the participants.

After painting the school classrooms several members of the USCGC Boutwell along with Cmdr. Andrews, traveled to Casa Hogar Tocumen to make a donation of over-the-counter medicines, hygiene items and children’s books on December 31, 2005.

Casa Hogar Tocumen shelters approximately 100 children from 2 years – 18 years of age.
