by Brenda Fillips Flanagan, storyteller, writer, poet from the United States of America

Brenda Flanagan was born in Trinidad but currently resides in Davidson, North Carolina, USA. She attained a BA with distinction in 1977, and an MA in 1978, both from the University of Michigan. She obtained her Ph.D there, in 1986. An prolific creative writer, Flanagan has received numerous awards and has published a vast array of plays, short stories and one novel, to date. She is currently Professor of English at Davidson College in North Carolina, where she teaches Caribbean and African-American literature, as well as Creative Writing.
