“Ponte En Algo” Arrives to Panamanian Television and Social Networks
February 26th, 2013
“It’s time to get going, become a part of someone else’s life and continue working for a better Panamá.”
The Alcance Positivo Program, funded by the U.S. Embassy, along with United Way Panama, Voluntarios de Panamá and the Sus Buenos Vecinos Foundation from Banco General (all of them members of the Ponte En Algo alliance) were proud to present the audiovisual Ponte En Algo campaign “Forma parte de la vida de otros” (Become part of someone else’s life.) This social-oriented campaign invites all Panamanians to become a part of someone else’s life through volunteering.
The event was attended by members of the Ponte En Algo alliance, representatives of the Panama City Mayor’s Office, the United States Embassy, NGOs, collaborators from the private sector, media outlets and the general public. Thanks to the support of TVN Channel 2, FETV Channel 5, SERTV Channel 11, Medcom Corporation Channel 13 and NEXtv Channel 21, Ponte En Algo reaches Panamanian TV screens from March 1st of the current year. Also, thanks to the support of the Panama City Mayor’s Office, Ponte En Algo will be advertised on billboards throughout the Panamanian capital.
Michael McCabe, director of the Alcance Positivo Program, referred to the initiative and said that, “Ponte En Algo is a social movement created with the purpose of strengthening the non-governmental organization sector and the volunteering culture in Panama. Today, more than 150 NGOs benefit by participating in this movement.” During the event, Carolina Freire, representing the Ponte En Algo alliance, announced the commitment of United Way Panama in continuing to run this important project after the closing of the Alcance Positivo program in Panama. Chris Martínez, Director of NGO Strengthening at Alcance Positivo, closed the event by launching an invitation to everyone: “It’s time to get going, become a part of someone else’s life, and continue working for a better Panama.”
