America Days in Colon Province
Ambassador Linda E. Watt and a contingent of U.S. embassy officials representing several mission sections and agencies travelled March 9-10 to celebrate America Days in Colon. America Days is an intensive, two-day series of U.S. Embassy-sponsored events in Colon province. The Embassy was based in the Melia Hotel during this period. This visit marked the official launch of the U.S. Embassy’s Colon Initiative, Enfoque Colón – a focused outreach effort to assist with the province’s redevelopment and revitalization. During America Days, the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section offered notarial and American Citizen Services from the Melia Hotel. These included American citizen registrations, acceptance of U.S. passport applications, and distribution of tax forms.
The Embassy also launched it’s Enfoque Colón website. This website will report on the U.S. programs and initiatives which effect Colon province. It will include a calendar of recent and upcoming events and provide links to local business groups and NGOs.
