From March 15 to 19, PAS Panama hosted twenty two U.S. Fulbright Students from the Central American region in Panama for the annual U.S. Fulbright Student Enhancement Seminar. The Seminar gave Fulbrighters the chance to share their experiences as U.S. students and researchers in Central America as well as to network with one another and learn more about Panama. The Seminar got off to a lively start with a reception at DCM Gilmour's residence with local Fulbrighters from Panama's Fulbright Mentoring Program and the current Fulbright Alumni Association board in attendance, complete with a presentation of Panamanian folkloric dance and music. On March 16, the students got a tour of Panama City including a VIP tour of the Panama Canal. The group then departed Panama City for El Valle where students gave presentations on their individual research projects and also enjoyed the town’s beautiful surroundings. The U.S. Fulbright Student Enhancement Seminar not only provides an excellent occasion for the Fulbright students in the Central American region to learn from one another and network, but also provided a chance for the Embassy to forge connections between current year U.S. Fulbrighters and Panamanian Fulbrighters from past years.
