Hogar Malambo Community Relations Project

On Tuesday, June 13, 2006 more than 30 volunteer Navy sailors from the USS JOHN L. HALL transformed the interior of the home that shelters 23 children ages 2-5 at Hogar Malambo, orphanage in Arraijan.

Captain Commander Dave Geisler led his men and women in a successful COMREL project which made the house look like new after spending three hours in it. Some of the volunteers trimmed the bushes while others organized the storage room and the rest painted the house.

Commander Geisler presented Sor Lourdes with a plaque and a photo from the USS JOHN L. HALL to be displayed as a souvenir of the visit and donated the tools and remaining paint to the orphanage.

The Navy sailors enjoyed a delicious BBQ Chicken lunch with potato salad, rice, garden salad, rolls and an exquisite dessert provided by volunteers from VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3835.

The children enjoyed the vibrant energy of the volunteers asking for “one more spin” as the sailors begged for a break.

Sor Lourdes thanked and blessed the volunteers for a productive day which improved the daily environment of 23 children from Hogar Malambo.
