U.S. Speaker for International Book Fair

June, 2003

U.S. speaker, Alma Flor Ada, Cuban-American and renowned author of children's literature, participated in the II International Book Fair of Panama held at Atlapa Convention Center July 1-6, 2003. Her multiple publications in English and Spanish have been published in Latin America, Spain and the United States. Dr. Ada directs the Center for Multicultural Literature for Children and Young Adults at the University of San Fransisco. She is a leading mentor and proponent of bilingual education in the United States. Dr. Ada was the founder and First Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE). While in Panama her activities included workshops for teachers, professionals, and children and wonderful opportunities for story telling. In addition to these, she visited IPHE, the Panamanian Institute for the Disabled and the President Valdes' School. We invite you to visit her website: www.almaflorada.com.
